A little place named Lietchenstien.

Hello everyone.
I have just returned from a little weekend trip. Let me tell you, I could definately get used to the European lifestyle.... jetting off to Lietchenstien for a nice relaxing weekend.

To get to Lietchenstein we had to fly to Friedrichsafen, Germany. From there you had to get a train through Germany, into Austria and into Switzerland. From Switzerland you get a bus into Lietchenstein. It was quiet a long process, although thankfully not very difficult.

Two of my flatmates, Amy and Eva were already there when Courtney (my other flatmate) and I joined them. We ended up going to this local pizzeria in the capital city of Vaduz on the first night there. The man who owned the restaurant didnt speak english. Luckily, he spoke Itailian and Eva is almost fluent in Itailan so there could understand eachother. It turned out that we had to wait 30 mins for a table. So we are just standing around and this man must have heard us talking because he came up to us and asked us if we were American. He was asking us where were from and everything. When I told him I was from New Hampshire, he mentioned that Bode Miller was New Hampshire. ((and in case some of you don't know who that is... Bode Miller is an olympic skiier from NH.)) I thought that was really wierd because none of my other flatmates knew who that was let alone someone from Lietchenstein. So he ends up giving us some reccomendations on places to go and things to do. Then he says that we should go to the ski museum. Apparently it is the only offically recognized ski museum in the world. Then he tells us that we would be able to see pictures of Bode Miller there. And then he adds, we would also be able to his skis and ski suite.

So it turns out that he is an Olympic skiier, who knows Bode Miller personally. Haha- can anyone say Random!!!!

The next day, we went to the post office there and bought post cards and stamps. Lietchenstein is famous for their stamps! And they are the number 1 exporter of dentures. At the post office I saw this pamphets there and then we realized that it was the man from last night- the skier. So that is how we found out his name and googled him. We actually found his offical website and send him an email thanking him for all the recommendations. Then he replied and actually sent me a picture of him and Bode Miller.

So now i am able to say that I met an Olympic skiier whilst in Lietchenstein. Not many other people can say that!

Later that day, we took a train to Zurich. That city was not at all what I expected. It was freezing cold there and I stupidly did not have a jacket.

Below is a link the my facebook photoalbum so you can see the majority of the pictures that I took on the trip.

I had an amazing time and I think that if you ever have the chance you should definately check out Lietchenstein. They isnt a ton to do but the scenery is beautiful and the people are super friendly!!

Much love,
Emily

Hello everyone!

No new pictures to add yet (my camera's batteries are dead and i somehow keep forgetting to go buy new ones) but i just wanted to give you an update on what is happening over here.

This week is midterms, although i dont actually have any. I had a few papers but nothing that big. On Saturday I am going to a literary festival with my creative writing class. It should be good because the author of Atonement with be there. We read this book for class and then we went to see the movie. Keira Knightly is in it. It was amazing!!! I dont think it is out in the states yet, but when it comes out i definately suggest you see it.

Next Friday, my flatmates and I are going to Lietchenstein. I am very excited about this!!! I will definately have batteries by then and I will definately post pictures.

I was looking at some old pictures and it when of them, someone is drinking dunkin donuts coffee and i realized how much I missed Dunkins.... random thought, i know!

The weather here has been pretty cool. It seems as though fall comes much earlier here. All the leaves have already died and fallen off the trees.

Anyways, I guess that is it for now. I will update again soon.

Stonehenge and Wyndham

Well it has been a little while since I have added pictures but I have been quite busy. School work is picking up because a lot of mid-term papers and assignments are due.

This is me in front of Stonehenge. As you can probably tell... it was really windy that day!!

It was another beautiful day in Britian!

The sun finally came through the clouds! For a moment anyways.

The Roman Baths. The only hot springs in England. Yes... it really was that green.

Wyndham stopping into London on his way to India for a few months. Here we are on the bus on our way to a PARTTYY!

...it was a masque party!

More pictures!

Here are some more pictures:

View of the Queens House from the top of the hill where the Royal Conservatory and the Prime Meridan Line is.

This is me standing on the Prime Meridan. "Where East meets West and time begins!"

A street in Greenwich.

Me, Eva and Amy on the boat on the Thames on our way to Greenwich.

The London Eye by means on the Thames River.

Saint Paul's Cathedral

The Tower Bridge.

The Tower Bridge as we were going underneath it.

My first fish and chips! It was okay. The skin was left on the first and that made for an interesting visual. But for the most part it was pretty good.

Eva, Me and part of Amy. We are on the South bank of the Thames.

Buckingham Palace. The Queen wasn't there. : (

The view of the London Eye from Buckingham Palace.

The Mall. It runs from Buckingham Palace...

... to this place at the end. Those are British Taxis.

Big Ben!

The Underground!

The view from across the river

Big Ben up close and personal!

The Tower Bridge going up for a tall ship. Apparently this happens 2-3 times a month and right when our guide was telling us this it went up!

One of the new modern buildings in London. That church in the foreground is actually one of the oldest churches in London. It servived the great london fire.

Me and Amy vlounteering at the Maggies Night Walk. People walked 17 miles around London starting at 10pm and throughout the entire night for raise money for a cancer center in London. Check out the bright yellow vest!

More to come!

Three weeks gone by.

Hey everyone! Some of you have been asking if i have any pictures so i decided to start this blog to post them. When i have more time i will fill you in on more stuff that i have been doing, but for now... here are the pictures.

This is my bed and my portion of the room, which i share with my lovely flatmate Courtney.

This is in Greenwich, where the Prime Meridian is. This is the Queen's House. Apparently it was given the queen of England ( not the current one) when she married into the royal family. But i guess that no one has lived there for a looooong time.

This is me, my flatmate Eva, and my flatmate Amy. We are on top of the hill in Greenwich near the prime meridian.

More to come!!
